Timmy Dooley (FF) has been nominated to contest the upcoming Seanad Election.

Restaurants Association of Ireland have announced the Mountshannon native as their candidate for the upcoming Seanad election. Dooley will be running on the Industrial and Commercial Panel as reported by The Clare Echo last week.

“We are happy to announce Timmy Dooley as our Seanad nomination today,” CEO of the Restaurants Association of Ireland, Adrian Cummins said in a statement on Monday morning. “Should Timmy be successful, we hope that he will continue his great work lobbying and fighting for the hospitality sector. Times are tough and restaurants have been closing at a staggering rate of almost one per day this year”.

Dooley previously served as a Senator from 2002 until 2007 before winning a seat as a Clare TD which he held up until earlier this month. A former front-bench spokesperson for Fianna Fáil, Timmy’s move to the Seanad had been widely expected following the result of this month’s General Election.
