FOR THE third term in a row, the same five elected representatives have been elected to serve the Killaloe Municipal District.

Once again, Cllr Joe Cooney (FG) delivered a poll-topping performance in East Clare and he will be joined by Cllr Pat Hayes (FF), Cllr Alan O’Callaghan (FF), Cllr Pat Burke (FG) and Cllr Tony O’Brien (FF).

Joining us on The Electoral Chair to assess why East Clare remains the most conservative part of the county when it comes to local elections are three former councillors, Patrick Keane (FF), Patricia McCarthy (IND) and Paul Bugler (FG).

On the agenda:

  • Breaking into politics
  • Dyson Cooney hoovers another big vote
  • Workrate of elected representatives
  • Matt Moroney and a potential return to the Soldiers of Destiny
  • No female voice on Killaloe MD with defeats for Fiona Levie (SD), Martina Cleary (SF) and Audrey Flynn (GP)
  • Tulla & Quin areas to watch in putting forward 2029 candidates
  • Fine Gael assisting Fianna Fáil to hold majority
