AS THE DUST begins to settle on the General Election outcome in Clare, Fianna Fáil and Sinn Féin are in a strong position countywide while Fine Gael will need to reflect and find a new energy in Clare.

Timmy Dooley (FF) and Cathal Crowe (FF) were elected on the thirteenth and fifteenth counts with Fianna Fáil the only party to elect candidates to surpass the quota in Clare.

Two first-time candidates, Donna McGettigan (SF) and Joe Cooney (FG) prevailed on the sixteenth and final count.

In the immediate aftermath, Páraic McMahon is joined at the count centre by communications consultant Mark Dunphy who has had ten election successes in 2024 alone, Fianna Fáil’s Director of Elections Gerry Reidy and former Fine Gael branch secretary Joe Melody.

On the agenda:

  • Standout moments from the election
  • Is Clare set for a Ministry
  • Dooley delivers a poll-topping performance
  • Crowe retains role as TD
  • Donna does it as Sinn Féin solidify their standing
  • Cooney hoovers up support
  • Time for reflection in Fine Gael
  • Geographic imbalances
  • Eddie’s campaign lacked a punch
  • Greens not in an envious position
  • AOB
