*Candidates in the Ennis Municipal District who attended The Electoral Chair election debate. 

POLLING DAY is less than a month away and as part of The Clare Echo’s build-up to the local elections, The Electoral Chair has kicked off election debates in all of the electoral areas.

Beginning in the Ennis Municipal District, candidates debate some of the key issues that are cropping up on the doorstep.

There are seven councillors to be elected in the Ennis Municipal District. Both Cllr Johnny Flynn (FG) and Cllr Ann Norton (IND) have confirmed they will not be seeking re-election meaning there will be at least two new councillors elected in the Ennis MD.

At present, eleven candidates will be on the ballot paper for the Ennis MD. They are, Antoinette Baker Bashua (FF) ,Cllr Clare Colleran Molloy (FF), Cllr Pat Daly (FF), Cllr Mary Howard (FG), Bridget Ginnity (GP), Tommy Guilfoyle (SF), Amanda Major (IND), Cllr Paul Murphy (FG), Cllr Tom O’Callaghan (FF), Seamus Ryan (LAB) and Hilary Tonge (SD).

All candidates except Guilfoyle were present for the election debate, the Clarecastle man was unable to attend due to work commitments.

Each candidate was afforded the opportunity to give a sixty second introduction and a final pitch to encourage people to vote for them on June 7th.
