Status Red Weather Warning

By Paddy O’Reilly

Surprising reports of an orange fire warning has been issued for county Clare as forest and farm owners in county Clare warned of ‘extreme fire warning’ which will remain in place for all of county Clare until midday on Monday the 7th of April.

People are being urged to be vigilant of any illegal or suspicious activities they see happening.

A set of guidelines has been issued by Clare County Council for where a fire outbreak occurs at, or near a recreational area.

  1. Do not light fires in and around forests or open land.
  2. Do not attempt to intervene or fight fires under any circumstances.
  3. Gather all family/group members and move to a safe, fuel-free location, such as a car park, upwind of the fire.
  4. Telephone fire and rescue services via 112 and report the fire and its location.
  5. Evacuate if instructed to do so and cooperate with all Emergency Services Instructions.
