AFTER A MONTH’s hiatus, action resumes in the Clare District Soccer League this weekend.

Avenue Utd’s bid to claim the Premier Division from Newmarket Celtic resumes when the Ennis side are away to Lifford. Celtic host Shannon Olympic with Ennis Town heading to Scariff to face Mountshannon Celtic. Bottom of the table Shannon Hibs meet Bridge Utd in Sixmilebridge while Shannon Town Utd are on the road to Lahinch where they face Sporting Ennistymon. All ties kick off at 11am.

Both Avenue and Ennis Town remain in the hunt for FAI Junior Cup glory, over they weekend they both recorded friendly victories, Avenue defeating Athenry 3-2 and Ennis Town overcoming Nenagh 1-0.

Football supporters in the county will rejoice at the resumption of games with ties also taking place in the Richie Fitzgerald Electical U17s League, Ennis Carpets U19 League, Womens Senior League, Anne Romer Florist First Division, Brian Pyne Tiles Second Division and Brownies Barbershop Third Division.
