Shannon’s Adam Moloney is in with a chance of joining Simon Cowell’s newest boyband.

On Monday night, Adam appeared on The X Factor: The Band which is the latest revamp in the franchise as Cowell bids to find the next big boy or girl band to sign to his record label. The show runs all this week with the live final taking place on Sunday night.

Thousands of applications were made to sing before the judges with “only the best” making the cut according to producers.

Prior to his audition at the SYCO HQ offices in London, Adam told Cowell and Nicole Scherzinger, “I sing love songs but I’m really really into hip hop music,” before singing One Direction’s Little Things and doing a 50 Cent rap.

Both judges were impressed by the Clare singer/songwriter as Cowell acknowledged, “There is something very interesting about you”. His father, Roger accompanied him to the audition.

It is not Moloney’s first time appearing on television screens with the seventeen year old a previous contestant on The Voice UK Kids and the Junior Eurovision. He released his first single at the age of thirteen, the funds of which went towards Pieta House.

He will feature again on the show this Friday on Virgin Media Television where viewers will discover who is in the hunt to compete in Sunday’s finale live from Birmingham.

A student at St Caimins Community School, Adam has showcased there is plenty of musical ability within the school which bodes well as they host St Caimins Got Talent on Wednesday December 18th in aid of St Vincent de Paul.
