SHANE O’DONNELL has been named as the GAA/GPA player of the month for May.

O’Donnell’s return to the Clare attack having missed the 2021 championship has been a pivotal reason behind the progress of Brian Lohan’s side thus far in 2022.

Alongside Peter Duggan, the Ennis native has bulked up the strength of the Banner attack as they came within a score of ending the county’s twenty four year wait for a senior provincial title.

In Clare’s five championship outings of the year, the Éire Óg clubman has hit 0-09 from play. Arguably more impressive has been the work-rate and unselfishness he has brought to the fold.

An All-Ireland winner in 2013 following a man of the match display, Shane claimed the award ahead of Limerick’s Gearoid Hegarty and Conor Lehane of Cork.

Lohan will be looking to O’Donnell to fill a big role this weekend when Clare take on Wexford in the All-Ireland SHC quarter-finals.
