One Clare man has been lauded for his fundraising efforts for a mental health service in the county.

Last month, Cappa’s Shane King undertook a charity cycle on his MotoMed bike in aid of the youth mental health charity, Happy Feet Happy Minds which is based in West Clare. Initially the 38 year old had hoped to bring €1000 from the cycle, however he has surpassed that figure with over €5097 raised to date.

Describing Shane as “one in a million”, Happy Feet Happy Minds expressed their gratitude online. “People of West Clare we really are blessed to have this young man amongst us and who goes over and beyond for his community”. The group said they were “overwhelmed by the support he has received”.

In the days after completing the 32km cycle, King had no complaints or niggles. In previous interviews with The Clare Echo, he underlined the importance of keeping a positive attitude while having cerebral palsy and how accessibility can still improve in certain sectors.
