A safety review of junctions on the M18 has been initiated by Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII).

It comes on the back of a motion from Cllr Pat Hayes at Clare County Council’s December meeting. The Fianna Fáil councillor sought a review of junctions 12, 13 and 14 on the M18 for safety and traffic purposes. He referred to the high amount of accidents at the junctions and felt the possibility of an Ennis Date Centre being located close to junction 13 necessitated “an overhaul”. He was seconded by Cllr Joe Cooney.

In a letter to the local authority, TII confirmed that they have “initiated a safety review of junctions 12, 13 and 14 on the M18 as requested”. The motorway exists that will be now be subject to the review include, Ennis, Tulla/Scariff and Barefield.
