Bathing restrictions have been lifted at Kilkee.
On Saturday morning, the discharge of wastewater into the sea forced Clare County Council to ban swimming at Kilkee with public bathing notices and red flags indicating the notice was in place.
Shortly before lunchtime on Wednesday, the local authority on the advice of the Health Service Executive (HSE) lifted the restrictions following water testing on Monday. Lifeguards are back on duty at Kilkee with the Blue Flag flying.
Peace commissioner and local resident, Mike Taylor described the announcement as “a relief to all”.
