A new gulley has been heralded as the solution to stopping flooding and ponding in Cratloe.

Repairs to the road surface “to prevent ponding and flooding on the R462 outside the old Post Office in Cratloe,” were requested by Cllr PJ Ryan (IND) at a recent sitting of the Shannon Municipal District.

Senior executive engineer, Aidan O’Rourke confirmed that the installation of a new gulley “to alleviate water lodging on the road at this point” was included in the Council’s roadworks programme for 2021. He said that the works would be carried out “shortly”.

Cllr Ryan praised confirmation of the works and believed, “a new gully will solve it”. Cllr Gerry Flynn (IND) seconded the motion.
