Clarecastle’s Roisin Cahill was last week crowned a European Ocean Racing Champion.

A huge performance in Cherbourg saw Roisin add to her growing collection of medals. In July, she won silver in the Under-23 surf ski race at the ICF World Ocean Racing championships in Lanzarote.

Aged 22, Roisin was formerly a high-performance swimmer. A biology and chemistry teacher, she has been a lifeguard in Lahinch and has paddled near the Cliffs of Moher and the Skelligs. She has medals at European level in surf life-saving and trains with Celbridge Paddlers in Kildare.
