Clondegad may have accounted for Cooraclare in the relegation play-off but they remain at risk of dropping down to intermediate for next year.

A clash with Kilrush Shamrocks will determine who drops down a level for next year. Manager of the Ballynacally club, Flan Enright was adamant they cannot get carried away with the win over Cooraclare. “It’s half the job done, we know Kilrush are waiting for this, they’ve to rise it for one game, it’s about us bringing a performance again the next day”.
Better efficiency in front of goal will be needed when they meet the Shams, Flan said. “We missed plenty, we missed three goal chances at the beginning of the game but the boys kept the scoreboard ticking after that and there was no show boating, when there was goals on again they took the point just to keep the scoreboard ticking”.
He added, “I’m very proud of the lads today, it is not a nice position to be in, we were in that position two years ago and two years before that, it is a horrible position for management but I can only imagine what it is like as players with the work they’ve done. We’ve half the job done and that’s all it is, half a job. Everyone did their shift and everyone did what they were good at, if you do that any day you go out that’s great and if it’s not at least you can be proud of what you did”.
