Vehicles attempting to turn right are causing damage to the walls between Woodcock Hill and the Windy Gap in Cratloe, a local representative has claimed.

Alterations to the Woodcock Hill road in Cratloe “at the point where it joins the Windy Gap” were sought by Cllr PJ Ryan (IND) at a recent meeting of the Shannon Municipal District. An adjacent property has had its wall damaged “on several occasions,” he outlined. Cllr Gerry Flynn (IND) seconded the proposal.

Surface improvement works were completed at the location in recent years, senior executive engineer Aidan O’Rourke acknowledged. “The issue will be examined to see if a facility exists to improve the turning movement at the junction”.

Speaking at the meeting, Cllr Ryan voiced his unhappiness with the response. “The issue is that there is property being damaged by vehicles trying to turn right, I would prefer if senior engineer had a decent answer for me. I have to go back to these people this evening and tell the property owners that the Council will look at it, they will want to know what they have been doing for last three weeks since I tabled the motion”.
