Resurfacing of the area opposite the funeral home in Lissycasey is to be completed by road staff of Clare County Council.

An appeal to resurface the area as a traffic lay-by was lodged by Cllr PJ Kelly (FF) at a recent meeting of the West Clare Municipal District and supported by Cllr Ian Lynch (IND).

Senior executive engineer, Alan Kennelly gave assurances that the hard shoulder would be resurfaced. “We will also resurface a section of the hard shoulder at the entrance to the western end of the village,” he stated.

According to Cllr Kelly, the N68 is Clare’s second busiest road. “The N68 is the busiest road after the motorway with very heavy traffic”. He believed resurfacing at Knockerra was “long overdue”. The Lissycasey representative added, “We have to cognisance that locals are using routes like this for walking”.
