A SHORTER run in for the General Election has resulted in a tighter window for the public to register to vote.

At long last, an election date of November 29th has been set with the campaign ramping up in Co Clare.

For the General Election, the public must be registered to vote to have their say. The deadline to register to vote is Tuesday 12th November. A voter registration drive was held by Clare Public Participation Network (PPN) across the weekend.

Clare PPN co-ordinator Sarah Clancy explained, “The election is set for 29th November so then the deadline for registering to vote will be next Tuesday, 12th November. If you’re an Irish or British citizen, over the age of 18 and living in Ireland you can vote in the General Election. Registering to vote is quite easy to do online at checktheregister.ie – all you need is your date of birth, PPS number, Eircode and email address. And of course, if you previously registered to vote, you can use checktheregister.ie to check that you’re still on the electoral register.

“Don’t miss your chance to have your voice heard in this election,” she added.

If you have changed your name and/or home address, you can update your details at checktheregister.ie, which also has other useful information.

Finally, if you’re already registered to vote in Co Clare but can’t find yourself on the register, you should email register@clarecoco.ie before submitting another registration.
