PRESIDENT MICHAEL D. HIGGINS is to visit Ennis this Saturday.

Ennis Tidy Towns and the Samaritans branch on the Kilrush Rd in Ennis are among the destinations the President will be visiting during his visit to the county. A number of groups from the county town will also be involved throughout the course of his trip to Clare on Saturday.

He will be travelling to his alma mater at St Flannan’s College where he went to secondary school having previously attended Ballycar NS in Newmarket-on-Fergus. His wife Sabina Higgins is confirmed to be joining him on the visit where their duties will include unveiling the winning plaque to Ennis Tidy Towns following their success in the competition last year.

Elected President in November 2011, Michael D. has welcomed several groups to Áras an Uachtaráin in the past decade. In 2012, a civic reception in his honour was held at Clare County Council, in what was his first official homecoming since the election.

Members of the Higgins family still reside in Newmarket-on-Fergus and Shannon
