Blake's corner

PLANS to address the traffic congestion issues in Ennistymon are underway as a planning application has been formally submitted to Clare Co Council.

The council plant to develop an inner relief road including a new vehicle bridge crossing of the Inagh/Cullenagh River, 80 metres upstream of the existing bridge.

The overall route runs from 170 metres south east of Blake’s Corner to 180 metres west of Blake’s Corner.

The development includes the demolition of two retail/residential units and one residential unit.

The plans include pedestrianisation of the existing bridge, the inclusion of a roundabout and relocation of the existing car park.

The plans were submitted to the Clare County Council planning department last Friday and a decision is due to be made in early March.
