Commencement of scheduled road works in Doora are dependent on the arrival of specialised equipment.

Clarification was appealed for by Cllr Clare Colleran Molloy (FF) at a recent meeting of the Ennis Municipal District on when the scheduled upgrade of the Mine Rd in Doora would be completed.

Senior executive engineer, Eamon O’Dea expressed the hope that the works along the L8174-0 Mine Rd to Monanoe Rd would begin under the restoration improvement grant programme this year. Recycling works would start “when the specialised equipment becomes available,” he stated.

Work had started but suddenly stopped, Cllr Colleran Molloy noted, “people were wondering where did ye go because the work had started”. The proposal was seconded by Cllr Ann Norton (IND).

O’Dea confirmed that the full length of the road was to be done with a double seeded surface dressing. Equipment had been based in North and West Clare delaying works, he said. He expected a two month period to complete the works.
