Clare senior football champions, Eire Og, Ennis will line out in defence of the Jack Daly cup under new management.

After eight years in charge during which he led them to three Clare senior championship titles along with league and senior B honours, Paul Madden has stepped down a team manager.

A championship winner as a player in 2006 when they accounted for Lissycasey, he was a player in the sides which lost in the finals in 2004 to Kilmurry-Ibrickane and in 2007 to Lissycasey.

Paul was a selector with James Hanrahan and Cathal Shannon when the Ennis club lost to Cratloe in the 2014 final.

Speaking to The Clare Echo earlier this week, Paul said “I would like to think that football is in a decent state in the club at this time”.

Shortly before the end of 2024 Paul and he Madden family sold the TempleGate hotel having successfully run the business for the past twenty years.

Following Mark Fitzgerald’s decision to step down from the post of Clare senior football manager back in November, Paul’s name was strongly linked to the post.

It remains to be seen if either of the outgoing selectors Shane Daniels or Peter Cosgrove will be persuaded to step up to the manager’s role.

A number of clubs have yet to finalise their management teams for the coming season and these include Ennistymon and St. Breckans.

Beaten county finalists Kilmurry-Ibrickane won’t have their annual general meeting until January 24 but it is understood that David Egan will be continuing as manager. The Offaly native completed his first season in the role in 2024.

Donagh Vaughan will continue as manager at St Josephs, Doora-Barefield with Eoin Troy continuing as coach. They led the club to the championship quarter final last year and finished off the season by leading the club to the under 21 A crown.

Aidan Moloney was unanimously re-appointed as manager of Lissycasey at the club’s recent annual meeting. This will be his third year as manager with the mid Clare club.

Peadar O’Brien is to continue for a second term as manager with his native Corofin with Mark Raftery continuing as coach.

Former player Brian Shanahan is the new manager with his native Doonbeg. He replaces John Keane who has stepped down from the position.

Colm Collins and his managements team of Brian O’Connell, Sean O’Dea and Jody O’Connor will again be in charge in Cratloe for the 2025 campaign.

After leading Wolfe Tones to the intermediate title in 2024, Johnnie Bridges is continuing as team manager for 2025.

Mickey Doran is to continue for a second term as Kilmihil manager.

Former Clare minor manager and Kilmurry-Ibrickane clubman Dermot Coughlan will manage Kilrush in 2025, a position he previously held some years ago.

Lissycasey’s Martin Daly is to continue as Cooraclare manager for a third season while Barry Harte is set to continue at the helm with Naomh Eoin whom he guided to the intermediate final in 2024.
