THE RACE for the Oโ€™Gorman Cup commences next weekend with games on Saturday (February 15th) and Sunday (February 16th).

The competition which honours the work of the late Doonbeg and Clare official, John Oโ€™Gorman is promoted by the Doonbeg club and this seasonโ€™s event will be the twentieth running of the competition.

It is run in conjunction with the Allianz National Football League and participating clubs take part without their inter county players.

Six clubs have entered for this seasonโ€™s competition, the draw for which will take place this weekend with first round games a week later. Itโ€™s planned to have three rounds completed before the domestic club leagues get under way on March 8th/9th.

Doonbeg, Ennistymon, Kildysart, St Josephโ€™s Miltown, Naomh Eoin and Cooraclare are the six clubs currently signed up for the Oโ€™Gorman Cup.

The competition will be played under the new football rules which will be in place for the county leagues, thus giving the participants, team officials and referees an opportunity to try out the changes.

The tournament director is Michael Neenan (086-3165877). The draw for the opening round will be made this weekend and clubs will be notified of their fixtures.
