NIALL O’Connor has been reappointed as manager of the Ruan intermediate hurlers.

A former full-back on the side, O’Connor was in charge this year as the club reached the last four of the Clare IHC for the first time since 2012.

Club members gathered in Toonagh Hall on Thursday with all COVID guidelines followed during the meeting. Secretary Patricia O’Donnell praised the leadership and commitment shown by members during the year, she commended the efforts of O’Connor and the Lotto Committee for moving online in 2021.

She highlighted the extent of work done developing the club grounds, singling out the contributions of Vincent O’Halloran, Frankie Lyons and its dedicated field committee.

Co-operation with COVID officers was referenced by O’Donnell who said the club embraced meetings via Zoom. “Great progress” made on club policies regarding anti-bullying, CCTV, safeguarding and risk assessment stood out as key achievements, she felt.

Local referee, Ger Lyons was returned as expected to the post of Chairman.
