NIALL O’Connor has been appointed the new Sales Director at The Clare Echo.

The Ennis native, who joined The Clare Echo sales team in April 2019, will step into the position recently vacated by Ger Naughton on her retirement.

O’Connor (30) previously worked in roles with Mincon in Shannon and Barry Smyth DIY in Ennis. The former St Flannan’s student is heavily involved with the Éire Óg club and has held various coaching roles across Clare GAA. Niall also runs Manchester United Tickets Ireland.

During his time with The Clare Echo, Niall has been a key contributor to growing sales figures.

Speaking about the appointment, Editor Stuart Holly said, “We are delighted to appoint Niall as our new Sales Director as The Clare Echo continues to show year-on-year growth, notwithstanding the Covid-19 lockdown.

“Niall sets high standards for himself and always strives to reach ambitious targets, set by himeself. He is organised, highly driven, and has shown great loyalty and leadership in his time with The Clare Echo. I am confident Niall will continue to drive high standards at The Clare Echo as he leads our youthful and enthusiastic sales team into the future”

Niall O’Connor commented, “I am extremely grateful for this opportunity. I look forward to repaying the faith shown in me and driving The Clare Echo to new levels year in year out going forward. I will be forever indebted to my former sales director Ger Naughton for giving me the platform but most of all the guidance to excel over the past two years which put me in a position to step up and fill this crucial role within the company. I learnt more in my two years with that special lady than others would in their entire career.

“We have worked closely with the local business community to help them recover from the nightmare of the last 18 months and as Clare’s highest circulated newspaper, our aim is to keep striving for excellence within this county but also be among the market leaders nationwide. Being the only ABC audited newspaper in the county gives huge comfort to our loyal advertisers and we will continue to work on their behalf to get business through their doors. The business community in Clare is number one to us and always will be”.
