CLARE’s new senior football manager has “a winning mentality” and will leave nothing to chance.

Club delegates welcomed the appointment of three-time Clare SFC winning manager, Paul Madden as the Clare senior football manager at Tuesday’s meeting of the County Board which was held online.

Munster Council delegate, Bernard Keane outlined, “number one he has a winning mentality and has achieved success, number two he is very much respected, number three he has a great knowledge of the game and number four he is a Clareman and I think it’s probably time for us to be thinking in those terms”.

Éire Óg delegate Bob Loftus strongly supported the appointment of his clubman. “This is a fantastic appointment for Clare football. His unwavering loyalty to Éire Óg and to Clare football. He has led Éire Óg to three county titles. He is a lot more than a manager, he is a leader. He is held in the highest esteem by players, mentors and supporters in Éire Óg. I expect that all players around the county will be delighted with this appointment. Nothing will be left to chance by Paul. He will build an environment for players to flourish”, he said.

Irish and Cultural Officer with Clare GAA, Joe Garry commented, “He brings a wealth of knowledge of the club scene in Clare to the position and he carries the best wishes of all in Clare football”.

In a statement, Clare GAA said, “We are delighted to announce Paul Madden as the Clare senior football manager for the next three years. Paul is a wonderful ambassador for Clare Football and has brought sustained success to his club Éire Óg at senior level. We look forward now to supporting him in the role and in driving Clare football forward”.
