NO injuries were reported after a car collided with a wall at Blake’s Corner in Ennistymon.

At lunchtime on Saturday, a BMW car mounted a wall at Blake’s Corner. Two American tourists were in the vehicle at the time and sustained no injuries. The wall which the car hit was damaged.

Gardaí from Ennistymon Garda Station attended the incident with delays for over half an hour causing congestion in the North Clare town as the vehicle was removed.

Last June, a planning application was formally submitted Clare County Council to address congestion at the traffic blackspot. The local authority plan to develop an inner relief road including a new vehicle bridge crossing of the Inagh/Cullenagh River, 80 metres upstream of the existing bridge. The development also includes the demolition of two retail units and one residential unit.

Fourteen objections had been received for a compulsory purchase order for two properties since the plans were lodged.
