THERE WAS no confusion for Cratloe owner Ger Manley when Confused Kiely claimed the top prize in the €500 Getting Out Race.
At Limerick Greyhound Stadium last Saturday evening, there was an impressive victory for Fast Fit Patch who is owned by John Quinn from Gort and trained by Liscannor’s Declan McDonagh a son of Jacob Tashadelek and Fast Fit Bossy, his winning time was 28.82.
Fergus Silver recorded her third career success in a time of 28.96 for Patrick Cronin from Meelick she is a homebred daughter by Grangeview Ten and Fergus Dolly.
From Thursday’s SIS meeting, Snuggie Benny landed the spoils for the Newmarket-on-Fergus pair of Breda Casey and Myles Cummins in the opening A2 contest in 28.82, this was career win number ten and a fourth in a row for this progressive son of Ballymac Cashout and Slaneyside Goldi.
In race six, a graded A5 Live Stream recorded her second career win for Cooraclare’s Joe Kelly in 29.37, trained by Stephen Murray of Sixmilebridge she is a daughter of Broadstrand Bono and Believer.
Race 7 an A4, went to Shanakyle Turbo for Parteen’s Joe Collins in 29.35, he is a son of Ballymac Cashout and Moment in Life.
The semi-finals of the Race Entries By Text A5 Tri-Distance Stakewerethe twin features on Friday night’s card at Galway Greyhound Stadium, the semis taking place over 550 Yards.
In the second semi-final, Rylane Lass, Piercefield Jet and Hollywell Mave were all lined across the track on the long run towards the opening bend with Rylane Lass using the benefit of the inside line to lead by a length rounding the opening two bends . Racing down the back Rylane Lass was closely attended to by Drombeg Nifty on her inside with the latter going to the front approaching the third bend. Turning for home Drombeg Nifty led by over a length but after switching inside the Donie Duggan of Tulla owned and trained Rylane Lass (Burgess Bucks & Notimetotalk) rallied gamely to get back up on the line to gain a head success in 30.94.
Donie Duggan was back in the winner’s enclosure following the A6 graded eighth contest as the Tom and Ciara Kelly owned Charming Ciara dug deep close home to repel the challenge of Bayview Power by the minimum margin in 29.70.
Killuran Johnny and Bayview Power were best away and disputed the early lead but racing towards the opening bend Charming Ciara surged between runners to lead at the turn . Turning down the back the daughter of Grangeview Ten and Marley Star led by two lengths as Bayview Power and Killuran Johnny gave chase. Approaching the home bend Bayview Power began to close but the winner dug deep close home to claim a second career success.
The outcome of the third contest an S8 graded sprint contest was effectively settled at the opening bed as Newhall Belle showed pace in the centre of the track to lead early from Dark Princess with Burnpark Cashout also prominent out wide. As they rounded the bend the Maria Browne of Cree owned Burnpark Cashout swept to the head of affairs and quickly shooting clear the son of Ballymac Cashout and Burnpark Blossom made it third time lucky to get off the mark by four and a half lengths over Killanin Blake in 19.66 and initiate a quick sprint double for the Kieran Browne Kennel.
The second success came in the very next contest an ultra-competitive S3 graded contest in which the six runners went to traps the winners of fifty six races between them. As the traps rose the red jacketed Burnpark Jaytee timed his exit to perfection and racing towards the opening bend he led Nashville and Ballyea Jet by over a length. Rounding the bend Burnpark Jaytee (Jaytee Jet & Seekers Vision) moved towards the centre of the track but lost little momentum in the process as he stayed on well to register career win number eighteen by a length and a half from Nashville in 19.18.
The semi-finals of The Ann Cheevers Memorial A3 525 Yards Stake were the twin features on the Saturday night card at the College Road Venue Galway Greyhound Stadium with the final of the €2000 to the inner competition sponsored by the Cheevers Family down for decision on Saturday night next.
The second semi-final looked the more competitive on paper and so it proved as from traps Claudegreengrass timed his exit to perfection ad pinging the lids led by two lengths from Tiermana Hunter and Laois Lightening as the opening bend loomed. Rounding the bend Claudegreengrass led by two lengths but the Colm Fitzgerald of Kilrush trained Tiermana Hunter navigated a dream passage around the turn to move into the cat bird seat early in the back straight.
Approaching the halfway mark the Supping Away Syndicate owned Tiermana Hunter recent winner of the Sean Scully Memorial A5 Stake at the track swept to the head of affairs and at the third bend led Hanover Mellie and Claudegreengrass by three lengths and the son of Ballyhimikin Jet & Tiermana Jetty powered up the straight to score impressively by two and a half lengths from Hanover Mellie in 28.97.
The €500 to the winner Getting Out Race was for A4 graded runners this week over 550 yards and on the long trek towards the opening bend Derrymoyle Bono shaped pace towards the outside as Confused Kiely showed pace towards the inner but it was Derrymoyle Bono that held the upper hand rounding the opening two bends. Racing down the back Confused Kiely switched to the outside of the leader as the pair passed halfway. Racing between the final two bends the Ger Manley of Cratloe owned Confused Kiely (Magical Bale-Lavan Fairy) began to close on the leader and joining issue turning for home Confused Kiely eased away on the run in to score by three lengths at the line in 30.80.
