A Newmarket-on-Fergus jockey has been shortlisted for a top honour in the UK.

Dylan Hogan is nominated for Best Flat Ride of the Year in the Lesters following what has lauded โ€œan audacious front running rideโ€ in Wolverhampton in January of this year.

Wanaasahโ€™s cosy victory at the beginning of the year earned Hogan a nomination alongside William Buick, Hollie Doyle and Tom Marquaand whose wins all took place from September onwards with Dylanโ€™s success still earning plaudits ten months on.

Already this year, the past pupil of St Caiminโ€™s Community College has 23 winners. He previously represented his county in handball and is now hopeful the people of Clare will give him their backing in the public vote.
