Killaloe Sailing Club Regatta 2017

IT’S anchors away for Killaloe Sailing Club as they have been granted planning permission for their new state of the art facilities.

The new development will incorporate new changing rooms with showers, a balconied viewing area overlooking the lake, an office and common area with kitchenette, plus improved boat and car parking.

Club Commodore Pat Culloo said the announcement is tremendous news for their members and for all sailing enthusiasts in the region.

“It will vastly improve the facilities for current and future members, and will ensure we can offer a much warmer welcome for all the children and adults who visit the club to attend our events and our sailing courses,” he added.

The development will be within the existing three acre site of the club which is situated on the edge of Lough Derg.

It is anticipated that the development will be completed over the next four years with initial work starting in 2018.

The club has also been successful in securing €6,000.00 of Sports Capital Grant funding which will be used to purchase additional boats and equipment.

“New members and their families can come and try sailing by using the club boats purchased with the Sports Grant. It is a brilliant way of encouraging people to try sailing, without them having to purchase specialist equipment,” Pat added.
