A MUSIC SESSION IN HONOUR of the late Dennis Cahill is to take place in Feakle this weekend.

Regarded as one of the most innovative guitar players in the world, Dennis died in June of this year.

Born in Chicago on June 16th 1954 to parents from Co Kerry, Dennis started learning guitar at nine years of age and studied at the Chicago Music College.

When it came to traditional Irish music, he was one of the most respected guitarists on the planet.

Dennis was best known for his musical partnership with fiddler Martin Hayes, a native of Maghera in East Clare. The two played as a duo and also as part of the Irish traditional supergroup The Gloaming.

This Saturday from 5pm a music session will be held in Dennis’ memory at Pepper’s Pub in Feakle with Hayes among the musicians partaking along with Mark Donnellan and members of the Tulla Céilí Band.
