MUNSTER LGFA instructed the postponement of the adjourned July meeting of Clare LGFA.

Clubs had been informed on Sunday night that the reconvened July meeting of Clare LGFA would take place in Hotel Woodstock on Monday evening but within seventeen hours further correspondence was issued to confirm the meeting would not take place.

Caoimhe McMahon who has stepped up to the role of county secretary following the resignation of Monica Callinan last month confirmed the “meeting has to be postponed on the instruction of Munster. Croke Park will issue further instruction”.

Subsequent to Tuesday’s adjourned meeting, Clare LGFA issued a statement where it was outlined that Chairperson Theresa Roseingrave adjourned the meeting “due to a procedural issue. Prior to the commencement of the meeting, it was brought to the Chairperson’s attention that confidential correspondence, intended solely for the Executive, had been circulated to members of the media.

“In order to protect the integrity of the Association and, most importantly, to safeguard the wellbeing and confidentiality of the players referenced in the correspondence, the Chairperson made the decision to adjourn the meeting. This will allow for a full and proper investigation into the breach,” the statement added. This breach had been investigated by the County Board prior to sending out notification of the reconvened meeting.

Inaccurate reports have circulated following the meeting regarding fixtures and the issuing of a questionnaire to some members of the county intermediate panel.

According to Clare LGFA sources, the reported questionnaire was sent by the County Board to all intermediate panellists and not just those affiliated to senior clubs as had been reported by outlets including The Clare Echo. However, players had flagged their concerns in advance of the Monaghan game on a number of issues.

Last week’s meeting was to ratify the fixtures plan, while proposed dates have been outlined to clubs in recent months meaning the championship cannot start on August 10th until they are ratified. Clare LGFA had submitted a proposal to Clare GAA to hold a double-header for the senior and intermediate finals on October 4th in Zimmer Biomet Páirc Cíosóg, a move which is understood to have upset clubs in West Clare particularly.
