Denis Mulqueen has been named as Dromoland Golf Club’s golfer of the year.

He was presented with his trophy in recent days as the club continues to acknowledge its members.

In the men’s 18 hole singles stableford competition at Dromoland, scoring was very keen with the leading players both returning 44 points.

Tony Cotgreave was the winner from Shane Browne with third spot filled by Vincent Derham with 40 points followed by Brendan Spicer with a similar score. David O’Brien won the gross with 33 points.

Siobhan Fitzpatrick was the winner of the ladies turkey/wine and chocolate competition at Dromoland last week with 19 points. She had one to spare over Mairead Bergin with third place filled by Carola Wixted who also scored 18 points while Deirdre Cooney was fourth with 17 points.

Kilrush Golf Club:

The weekly November turkey competition at Kilrush was won by Tony McMahon (11) with 29 points from Anthony Gilmartin (12) with 28 points. Pat J. Shannon (8) was third with 28 points followed by Sean Lyons (11) who also scored 28 points.
Shannon Golf Club:
Last week’s 15 hole turkey competition at Shannon was won by Paul Hayes (22) with 39 points from Paul Ryan (27) with 38 points. Aaron Shanagher (19) was third with 38 points followed by Brendan Healy (18) and he also had 38 points Reece Hickey (7) won the gross with 28 points

Woodstock Golf Club:

The Autumn league continue at Woodstock last week when the winners were Paul and Declan Coote, Fran Feighery and Chaye Kelly with 92 points. They had six to spare over Brendan Neylon, Ronan O’Looney, Jonathan Clohessy and Michael Coughlan.

In third spot with 85 points were Joe Kennedy, Joe Mullins, Martin Hayes and Mike Liddy and they were followed by Stephen and Dennis McCarthy and John Breslin with 84 points.

The league continues this week when the competition format will be singles with the top three scores from the four players to count. Participants are asked to ensure that they are not playing with more that one member of their own team. The top 4 teams will qualify for the matchplay section.

In last week’s club singles Pat Keane was the winner with 40 points from Cathal Nagle with a similar score. There will be a similar competition this week for those who are not taking part in the Autumn league.

Gort Golf Club:

In the men’s singles competition at Gort last week category 1 was won by Richard Glynn (10) with 37 points. Paddy Prendergast (13) won category 2 with 37 points while Declan Prendergast (20) won category 3 with 39 points. Dermot O’Gorman (25) was the winner of category 4 with 38 points.

In the ladies Santa surprise 13 hole singles stableford competition the winner was Teresa Mahon (27) with 32 points from Carmel Joyce (28) with a similar score. Marcella Killeen (27) was third with 29 points.

Ennis Golf Club:

The men’s fourball competition at Ennis last weekend was won by Sean Ryan (26) and Matt Flynn (11) with 47 points.

They had one to spare over Darren McGill(14) and Cian Griffin (21) while third spot was filled by Tadhg Cullinan (20) and Shane Talty (16) with 44 points. They were followed by Andrew Whelan (3) and Liam Hughes (8) who also scored 44 points.
