A status yellow rainfall warning is in place for Co Clare on this August Bank Holiday weekend.

Met Éireann have issued the alert from 2pm up until 9pm on Sunday with between 20 to 30 millimetres of rain forecast to fall. Western counties are to receive the brunt of the weather with heavy thundery downpours leading to flash flooding and hazardous driving conditions.

“Today will see the most activity out of the week, but it will begin to ease off after later this week towards Thursday and Friday,” weather forecaster John Eagleton outlined. He warned there would be “prolonged longer spells of rain” in the evening when spot flooding is likely.

Mixed conditions are forecasted for Monday with showers to persist till Tuesday night before returning on Wednesday.
