Hosted by Mayor of Ennis, Cllr Clare Colleran Molloy (FF),  South Ireland Fianna Fáil MEPs Cynthia Ní Mhurchú and Billy Kelleher will be guest speakers at Europe Day Event, with the aim to provide an enjoyable, educational experience for those who attend, especially the 100 or so TY students from Ennis.
Cllr Colleran Molloy told The Clare Echo, “It will endeavor to bring a realisation to our younger generation of the importance of the EU by bringing it closer to our communities.
“It is heartening to see the interest and willingness to attend by the TY students from Colaiste Muire and the Ennis Community College.”
The event is open to the public at large and all are welcome.
Ennis resident Colleran Molloy continued, “As a Member of the Committee of the Regions and as the Mayor of Ennis Municipal District, I was eager to mark Europe Day – May 9th.
“The theme that I have chosen is THE EU: Past – Present – Future.”
In addition to any spontaneous questions that may be posed by he audience, there are some questions already raised by the students. As follows:-
The talk will explore themes such as ‘How did the EU come about?’, ‘How have Irish people benefited from membership?’, ‘What are the major challenges to the EU today?’, ‘Does President Trump like the EU?’ and more, which will be followed by an audience Q&A.
