Ewan McGregor

HOLLYWOOD star Ewan McGregor has singled out Sixmilebridge as his favourite place in Ireland.

Speaking to Xposé at the European Premiere of Christopher Robin, McGregor said: “I know Co Clare the most. I made a film there with my friend Charlie who is here somewhere.

“[It was] way back in the day in a little town called Sixmilebridge. I haven’t been back for a long time”.

McGregor filmed a movie called The Serpent’s Kiss over 20 years ago in the East Clare village.

Directed by Philippe Rousselot and set in Set in late 17th century England, the film tells the story of a Dutch garden architect, Meneer Chrome (Ewan McGregor), who has been hired by a wealthy merchant to create an extravagant garden.

Christopher Robin is a live action movie based on the much loved Winnie the Pooh cartoon.

“I loved playing this part very much, like I have all my work. I just really enjoy what I do. I’m lucky to do something I love so much,” McGregor added.
