Mullagh’s Marty Morrissey is in the running to be crowned IFTA Presenter of the Year.

It is the only category that members of the public can vote in for the upcoming Irish Film and Television Awards which take place on May 31st.

Marty is one of the ten presenters shortlisted by a panel of industry experts in recognition of their dedication to Irish broadcasting. Graham Norton, Ryan Tubridy, Miriam O’Callaghan, Karen Koster, Elaine Crowley, Hector Ó hEochagáin, Matt Cooper, Christine Lampard and Sharon Ní Bheoláin are the other nominees.

According to IFTA CEO Áine Moriarty, “This award recognises the skill and talent of Irish TV professionals, who reach into the hearts and minds of Irish audiences day in day out, keeping them informed and engaged across all aspects of society. Whether they are reporting, educating, investigating or entertaining, these household names are committed and passionate about their work and their presenting roles on screen.”

Earlier this year, Marty appeared on the second series of Dancing With The Stars finishing in seventh place. He first joined RTÉ’s sports department in 1994 and his Radio One show ‘The Marty Squad’ returned to the airwaves in recent weeks.

Online voting is open until Monday May 28th. Click here to vote for Marty.
