A thirty year old man has died following a crash at Miltown Malbay early on Monday morning.

He was a backseat passenger in a car which struck a bridge at Caherogan, Miltown Malbay. The incident took place at approximately 4:15am. Two others were in the vehicle at the time, a male driver (28) and female passenger (26) were injured and taken to University Hospital Limerick.

Units from Clare County Fire Service, Gardaí and Ambulance were called to the scene. The stretch of road is closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.
