ONE MAN has died following an early morning two car collision in Ballinahinch.

Shortly before 6am, emergency services were alerted to an accident on the R352 Scariff to Ennis road where two cars on opposite sides of the road collided on Wednesday morning on the outskirts of Bodyke.

A man aged in his twenties was pronounced dead at the scene with his body transferred to University Hospital Limerick for a post-mortem examination. The driver of the other vehicle is understood to not have sustained serious injuries.

Gardaí have confirmed that the R352 from Scariff to Ennis will be closed over the coming hours so that a forensic examination can take place.

Diversions are in place, with those travelling from the Ennis direction diverted at the Beckman Coulter factory, and those travelling from Bodyke asked to divert at Silvergrove Cross.

Killaloe Garda Station have appealed for anyone in the area at the time or who may have further information on the incident or dash cam footage to contact them on 061 320 540.
