A bridge described as “unsafe” in Lissycasey is to undergo a feasibility assessment.

In a motion before a recent sitting of the West Clare Municipal District, Cllr PJ Kelly (FF) asked that “the unsafe bridge at Boloughera Lissycasey be replaced”. This was seconded by Cllr Joe Killeen (FF).

Senior executive engineer in the road design unit of Clare County Council, John Gannon confirmed that a feasibility assessment of the available options would be initiated. Following this, an update will be provided to the MD.

There is a risk of the bridge collapsing, Cllr Kelly cautioned. “The bridge is in a very serious state of disrepair, afraid if a heavy vehicle crosses that it will collapse.
