An increase in COVID-19 cases has been recorded in Co Clare for the tenth day in succession.

A total of 231 new cases have been confirmed across the country, less than five of which are located in Co Clare. Dublin (133), Kildare (18), Limerick (13), Offaly (8), Galway (7), Wicklow (7), Meath (6), Cork (6), Donegal (5), Cavan (5), Waterford (5) account for the cases along with 18 spread between Clare, Carlow, Kerry, Laois, Leitrim, Louth, Mayo, Monaghan, Sligo, and Tipperary.

Further detail on the cases from the Department of Health has revealed that 48% are as a result of close contact with a confirmed case or an outbreak. 54 of the cases are due to community transmission.

No increase to the national death toll of 1,777 has been observed.

Thursday’s figures have shown there to be an increase of 3 cases in Co Clare.

Dr Ronan Glynn appealed to the people of Dublin to limit their social contacts following confirmation of 133 new cases.
