CLARE’s Allianz hurling and football league campaigns will begin on the last weekend in January.

The footballers are first into league action as they travel to Newry to take on Down in Division 3 on Saturday January 24, in what will be one of their toughest outings of the campaign.

On the following day, Sunday January 25, the hurlers will have home advantage as they face Dublin in Division 1B in what similarly is expected to be one of their trickier ties in the second tier.

For Brian Lohan’s hurlers, they have home ties against Down and Wexford. They will be on the road to face Davy Fitzgerald’s Antrim, Kildare and Carlow.
