TWO SOCCER games in Clare have survived cancellation while Bridge Utd will be in action in the quarter-final of the Munster Junior Cup outside the county.
For Bridge Utd supporters, all roads lead to Annacotty where they are bidding to go one step further than last season and qualify for the semi-finals of the Munster Junior Cup.
They face Aisling Annacotty at the Limerick club’s astro turf pitch for a 2pm kickoff. The Clare trio of Arron Curtis, Isaac O’Sullivan both formerly of Tulla Utd and Shannon’s Jamie Halpin will be lining out for the Limerick side.
Already through to the semi-finals of the provincial competition are Newmarket Celtic, their Premier Division tie with Ennis Dons at McDonough Memorial Park is the only game in the top tier to proceed this weekend. Celtic received a walkover from Manus Celtic on Thursday to seal their spot in the last sixteen of the Clare Cup.
In the Boru Sports First Division, Moher Celtic host Fern Celtic at 11am, this is the only other tie in Clare which is to proceed on Sunday.
Tulla’s chance to go joint top of the Premier Division has been put on hold after their match with Kilrush Rangers was called off.
Lees Rd is unplayable which has resulted in the postponement of the second round Clare Cup clash between Fair Green Celtic and Sporting Ennistymon.
Elsewhere in the First Division, the games between Bunratty Cratloe and Connolly Celtic, Shannon Olympic and Newmarket Celtic B plus Manus Celtic and Mountshannon Celtic are all off.
Top side in the Brian Pyne Tiles Second Division, Hermitage FC A have ended up with a free weekend after their match with Coole FC fell foul to the elements. Corofin Harps were due to host Ennis Dons B while Avenue Utd B versus Bridge Utd B is also off.
All games in the Third Division have been pulled, namely the meetings of Shannon Town B v Shannon Town C, Shannon Hibs B against Bridge Utd and Callan Utd against Tulla Utd B.
Neither of the two scheduled games in the Ladies League will take place. Bridge Utd were scheduled to host Tulla Utd while Ennis Dons were to welcome Moher Celtic to the county town.
