ENNIS’ Irene Hehir has rejoined Treaty United and has been appointed manager of the club’s U19 women’s team.

Irene, a former Irish U20 international and World Cup bronze medal winner returns to the club having stepped down as U17 manager in January 2021, guiding the club during their first season in the League of Ireland.

She represented Ennis based Lifford Ladies for most of her career where she won a plethora of league, cup and national titles at all age-groups. As an Irish U20 international, Hehir scored four goals for her country.

Her coaching career began as a sixteen year old looking after Lifford Ladies’ underage side. From there, she progressed to county squads where she oversaw teams in the Clare Emerging Talent Programme, she worked under James Scott with the Republic of Ireland’s women’s U17 team and managed Limerick FC at U17 level.

Hehir is currently involved with the FAI U15 Girls National Academy and last year was assistant coach to the Irish Women’s Cerebral Palsy Squad who claimed Bronze at the Women’s World Cup.

She holds a UEFA A Licence and this year will be a candidate on the 2025 UEFA Elite A Licence with FAI Coach Education.

In her professional career, she works with Southill Outreach as a keyworker and has just completed her degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy and looks forward to starting a masters in Sport Psychology later this year.
