Paddy Donnovan’s seventh professional bout has been cancelled.

An injury in his left hand has led the cancellation of a planned fight for ‘Real Deal’ Donovan in New York.

This injury was a slight issue before his latest win over Turk Siar Ozgu in February but sustained further damage while sparring at the end of last week, prior to this another sparring session six weeks ago indicated issues persisted with his hand.

“We are forced to withdraw from this fight and will undergo an operation to make sure I will have a long and successful career. It’s a tough time mentally and physically inside and outside of the ring with the help of god with time I will be back better than ever,” the Ennis fighter stated this week.

To date, Paddy has hit the ground running in his professional career with six wins from six fights. Prior to turning professionally, he was an eight-time All-Ireland champion.

Donovan has set himself the goal of becoming a world champion by the age of twenty five. Trained by Andy Lee, Paddy turned twenty two at the beginning of this year.
