A road one mile from Coolmeen village is to be considered for inclusion in next year’s schedule of municipal district works.

Inclusion of the L2066 which is approximately one mile east of Coolmeen village, on the 2022 roadworks programme was requested by Cllr PJ Kelly (FF) at a recent sitting of the West Clare Municipal District and seconded by Cllr Cillian Murphy (FF).

Alan Kenneally, senior executive engineer in the West Clare MD outlined that the road was not included for surface dressing or restoration improvement works in the 2021 programme but said it would be considered for next year.

“It is the only back-road,” Cllr Kelly explained. He referenced a recent historical gathering in the locality which unveiled “a lovely monument costing a lot of money” and added, “unfortunately the road leading to it is in a very bad state.
