THE roads are pretty dodgy out there this morning, with reports of several cars veering off the road into ditches and a number of minor collisions.

Gardai are warning of treacherous driving conditions between Ennis and Kilrush, particularly around Lissycasey and Ballyea.

Snow and hail showers have led to black ice and slippery road conditions across the county and the RSA are advising motorists to take extreme care on the roads today.

“If you encounter hail while driving, reduce your speed without braking if possible, warn other drivers using your hazard warning lights, avoid any sudden steering movements or heavy braking, maintain a safe distance from the vehicle in front and use wipers and dipped headlights,” the RSA said.

Met Eireann have issued a yellow weather advisory for the country from 5pm this evening to 6am tomorrow morning, with wind gusts of up to 110km per hour, thundery downpours and a possibility of snow accumulations.

Lovely.
