Twenty three teams of four will begin their challenge for honours in the Spring league at Woodstock this weekend.

The format this week will be fourball betterball with 68% of handicap index rounded up or down to the nearest whole number allowed and it will be one card to count.

There will be a club singles competition this Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Last weekend’s club singles was won by Dickie Pyne with 41 points from Brian Foudy who had a similar score. Michael O’Kelly was third with 39 points followed by Ronan O’Looney, also with 39 points and Brian Kilker with 38 points

East Clare Golf Club:

The ladies Wednesday competition at East Clare last week was won by Margaret Lynch and Siobhan Mulcahy from Trish Kerr and Pauline Nugent with third spot filled by Noreen Skehan and Marie A. Kelly.

In the senior men’s competition on Tuesday the winners were Nick Ryan, Jim Fahy and Ailbe McDonnell from Jim Bradley, Michael Heffernan and Seamus O Dwyer with third place filled by Jackie McHugh, Teddy O Hanlon and Jim Willis.

The winners of the Friday scramble were Terry Coughlan, Stephen Lynch and Carmel Lenihan from Christy O Dea, Siobhan Mulcahy and Evelyn Skehan with third place filled by John Fahy, John Torpey and Margaret Lynch.

The Friday scramble continues on Friday morning at 10am while round 3 of the Winter league is ongoing.

Kilrush Golf Club:

The winner of the men’s weekly singles at Kilrush on Sunday was Brian Scanlan (6) with 30 points.
He had one to spare over Michael Shannon senior (17) with Bernard Coleman (11) a point further back in third spot. Finbar McMahon (13) was fourth and he also scored 28 points.

Gort Golf Club:

Last weekend’s 18 hole men’s singles competition at Gort saw Gerard Connors (10) win category 1 with 44 points.

The category 2 winner was Michael Killeen (14) with 43 points. Tommie Kelly (17) won category 3 with 43 points while Declan Fahy (22) won category 4 with 40 points.
