Cratloe’s Jim Hickey is to take charge of Sunday’s Clare SFC final between Kilmurry Ibrickane and Éire Óg.

It will be the second time that the dual referee will take charge of the biggest game in the Clare football calendar. He was the man in the middle in 2018 when the Gordon Kelly captained St Josephs Miltown were crowned champions overcoming Ennistymon on a scoreline of 0-14 0-08.

Hickey’s appointment was rubber stamped at a meeting of County Board officials on Tuesday evening. Sunday’s decider will throw in at 2:30pm in what is a repeat of the 2004 county final.

When Éire Óg last appeared in the senior final, Hickey was also on duty but for the 2014 Junior A final between Naomh Eoin and Coolmeen.

Niall Quinn who officiated last year’s senior final is on duty for the intermediate equivalent between Kildysart and Corofin which has a 2:45pm start on Saturday. The St Josephs Miltown clubman started refereeing in 2012 and moved to adult games in 2015 when he called time on his playing career.

Sunday November 14th has been pencilled in as the date for the historic Clare SHC final meeting between Ballyea and Inagh/Kilnamona.
