NATIONAL Drawing Day is taking place in people’s homes for the very first time this weekend.

Asking the public to ‘Go big and stay home’, the National Gallery have paired with glór to bring the joy of drawing to homes across Co Clare through online platforms.

glór will be presenting a 30-minute drawing tutorial by Clare artist Marie Connole on their Facebook page (glorennis)  and on their website www.glor.ie

Marie Connole is a visual artist, illustrator and teacher. Her studio practice combines drawing, painting, installation and animation. She works through highly personal thematic content involving storytelling, the subconscious, and the natural world.

In this tutorial Marie will teach participants how to draw one of her beautiful Hare drawings whilst chatting about the folklore and habitat of Ireland’s native Hare, particularly in the context of Co. Clare.

The National Gallery of Ireland leads the programme with activities for all ages and abilities, including the latest in the series of ‘National Gallery at Home’ videos for children, finding inspiration in Gerard Dillon’s The Little Green Fields and local surroundings to create a mini masterpiece.
