Pinnacle Rio claimed a fourteenth career success for Michael Costelloe while the John Maher owned Kate’s Princess routed her rivals in Galway.

The outcome of race three at the Galway Track on Friday Night last which was a Novice 350 yards contest was never in doubt from an early stage as the John Maher of Kilmaley owned Kate’s Princess (Kinloch Brae-Baby Sugar) routed her rivals by upwards of six and a half lengths in 19.40. Very smartly away from her trap three berth the winner quickly opened up a three length advantage over Bumblebee Mojo and Erril Sue approaching the opening bend. With the latter running very wide around the bend Kates Princess was home for all money early in the home straight.

Well beaten on debut over the sprint trip, the Margaret Ruane and Marie O’Donoghue of North Clare owned Treanmanagh Lad relished the step up in trip in race four for this A8 graded contest as he led on the crown of the home bend on his way to a four and three quarter length success over Jumeirah Talent in 29.29. From traps Jumeirah Talent showed pace to lead from Sports Sunday and Treanmanagh Lad. Racing down the back the order remained the same until the winner moved through along the inner at the third bend and once on front the son of Belles Direction and Jaytee Jade eased clear of his rivals in the straight.

The football season may be over cross channel but the name Ronaldo is still in focus. Race five, an S4 graded sprint contest went in fine style to the Michael and Alana Browne of Cree owned Burnpark Ronaldo who left his rivals toiling in his wake by upwards of four and a half lengths in 19.20. Probably last to emerge from traps as Croaghill Blake was first to break rank, the son of Watchman and Burnpark Grainne made rapid progress outside approaching the opening bend. Striking the front at the turn Burnpark Ronaldo quickly asserted as he strode right away from his rivals in the home straight.

Having endured a few troubled passages in recent outings, the Michael Costello of Kilfenora owned Pinnacle Rio gained career success number fourteen in this A4 graded contest as he proved three parts of a length too good for Honkwhenyourhome and Larchill Pop in 29.44. The son of Rio Quattro and Fawn Samantha timed his exit to perfection and racing towards the opening bend he led Larchill Pop by over a length. Racing down the back, the lead increased to three lengths before the pack began to close approaching the home bend but Rio is as game as they come and he saw them all off in determined fashion close home.
